As my time at the University of Illinois is coming to an end, the job hunt is officially on. One of the harsh realities of landing a job after college is having “relevant experience.” However, if you have maximized your time and took advantage of campus resources then experience shouldn’t be a problem, right?

Luckily, I have had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through on-campus organizations. Her Campus has allowed me just this. I joined my sophomore year as a social media and public relations intern. End of junior year, I was offered an executive position as the director of all social media channels. Her Campus has taught me so much about leadership, empowerment, and passion. I am forever grateful for every experience that this organization has offered me including mentorship, renowned guest speakers, fundraising for charities, campus events, and more.

Now, this is where the job hunt comes in, Her Campus Media recently launched a new platform that connects gen z with internships and entry-level jobs. Here’s how they are making the transition seamless: think of Generation Hired as a dating app but for employers and job seekers. After you create your profile, employers filter to find job seekers that they want to match with. From here, job seekers are notified of an employer’s interest.

Branded as a “virtual career center,” Generation Hired does more! Every week they host “Office Hours” which are curated webinars with industry professionals focused on topics for college students and recent grads. This is a great opportunity for job seekers to learn industry tips, polish their personal brand, hone interviewing skills, connect with dream employers, and learn how to stand out!

Showcase your unique skills and talents. By personalizing your profile, you can let employers know more about you, your passions, accomplishments, and career aspirations. Beyond personalized questions, you can upload your social media and digital portfolios. This allows you to showcase your personality beyond your resume, giving insights into why you’re the right candidate for the position.

Did I mention that you gain access to ALL of these resources for FREE?! Yes, you read that right. Free. Take advantage of its access to exclusive content, virtual events, blog, and networking opportunities. It’s never too late to advance your career and make professional development.

To all students and recent grads- congratulate yourself on how far you’ve come this past year. Now let’s enter the workforce with less fear and more confidence! Time to get matching.
